Surfworld the UK’s largest indoor waterpark.Bringing some of the world’s most exciting water rides to Europe for the first time, the £15 million centre is expected to draw 3,000 people a day to West Yorkshire.

A year-round sub-tropical attraction, Surfworld  also have a social conscience, providing jobs and training for 200 local people as well as offering discounted entrance to those in surrounding communities.

Surfworld  the largest indoor waterpark in the UK. Featuring some of the world’s most exciting water rides for the first time in Europe, the £15 million centre will attract 3,000 people a day to the West Yorkshire town of Castleford.

Some of the rides and attractions to be featured at the 10,000 sq metre parak have never been seen before in the UK. Developed in conjunction with the world’s top water slide designers, they include the thrilling Boomerango Bowl and The Aquaplay Rainfortress – a hive of water-tipping buckets, water cannons, climbing nets, hose jets and crawl tunnels.

Also featuring fun pools, a state-of-the-art wave machine, lazy river and water chutes, Surfworld will include restaurants and snackbars, a swim shop and much, much more.

Set to open in 2012, the year-round attraction will provide jobs and training for 200 local people as well as promoting healthy living and lifestyle choices by offering discounted entrance to those in the surrounding community.

Surfworld is the brainchild of Mick Harrison,who has spent the last six-years visiting waterparks across the world and securing licences for several top-class water rides. He and business partner Graham Gatenby have formed a partnership with Leeds-based social enterprise agency Camberwell with the intention of using profits profits from Surfworld to benefit the local community.

The development will sit alongside rugby league giants Castleford Tigers’ new stadium complex and will be in touching distance of Xscape, one of the biggest adventure sports complexes in the North and home to an indoor ski slope and climbing wall.

Located alongside major motorway the M62, and within a short distance of the M1 and A1, the area is also served by excellent rail and bus links.
